The golf outing committee of the United Way of Wells County is gearing up for the event on Thursday, June 14 at Timber Ridge Golf Course. Hiday Automotive Group is sponsoring the hole-in-one contest where participants have a chance to win a new car. Foursomes or individuals can sign up by contacting our office at 824-5589. Other prizes are being sponsored by Travel Leaders and Reimbold and Anderson. Don’t forget to make plans for a great day of golf to benefit the United Way of Wells County!

The annual United Way of Wells County Golf Outing will be taking place Thursday, June 14, 2012at the Timber Ridge Golf Course. Registration will begin at 11:30 with a shotgun start at 12:30. This is a charity event with all proceeds going to the United Way of Wells County. Prizes sponsored by Travel Leaders, Hiday Automotive Group and Reimbold and Anderson. Make plans for a great day of golf to benefit the United Way of Wells County!

Community Drug Awareness

Sergeant Dan Mawhorr from the Indiana State Police will be presenting “Synthetic Drugs: So you Think Its Legal?”

Community/Parent Presentations will be taking place:
March 19 in the Southern Wells High School Gym at 6:30 p.m.
March 22 in the Bluffon High School Cafetorium at 6:30 p.m.

These presentations will last about an hour long and there is no registration needed to attend. This program is designed for adults 18 and over due to graphic content.

Parent Guide for Learning Ideas and Activities

The Parent Guides for Learning Ideas and Activities are part of the Early Childhood and School Readiness Initiative of the United Way of Wells County. They are designed to provide parents with ideas and activities that will promote educational experiences. Each child’s development is unique and children are greatly influenced by their experiences and the things around them. These Parent Guides will help parents ensure that their child is developing properly and will encourage children to be life-long learners.

Each quarter (October, January, April and July) a new Parent Guide is printed and delivered to the parents of children registered through the Imagination Library. You can also find copies at the Wells County Public Library.

Blossom Butterfly and Walter the Word Worm are part of United Way of Wells County’s Early Childhood and School Readiness Initiative. They are here to share their love of books and words, tips for learning, health, and having fun.

Blossom Butterfly and Walter the Word Worm love to read books, learn new words, visit the library and meet the kids in Wells County. They like to share tips for learning, health, and fun things for kids to do with the adults in those kids’ lives. Watch for book’s Blossom is reading and Walter’s words of the day!

2012-2013 Allocation Requests

United Way of Wells County is now accepting agency allocation requests for funding. We look forward to seeing your applications for funding for each of your programs by March 15, 2012. All attachments MUST be included and packets prepared and delivered as requested. Keep in mind that if you are dropping off your packets, the United Way office hours are 9:30 am to 3:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays (closed noon to 1:00 for lunch) and 1:00-3:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays.

If you have any questions or would like to receive information about an allocation packet, please contact the United Way office at (260) 824-5589.

City employees post a 30% Increase to United Way!

This year, the City of Bluffton, held its United Way employee campaign. Cindy Stuff coordinated the activities this year. One of the perks of contributing was a home-cooked meal (by Cindy) to be served on November 16. Employees that controibuted $1 per pay were eligible for the meal. The end result of the campaign this year was a 30% increase in employee giving. Giving to United Way of Wells County allows the United Way to provide over 25 programs that benefit Wells County citizens.

City Commissioner Bette Erxleben helped Cindy Stuff serve lunch today – lunch was pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, choice of desserts and a beverage. Thanks ladies!

New United Way website

Working with Nate Reusser of Reusser Designs, United Way of Wells County has developed a new website. Be sure and explore the new site. The blog will be incorporated directly into the site – you can Donate Online – the campaign video is available for viewing – and there are several campaign resources all accessible through the website.
